I was feeling a bit blue today until I began dyeing some wool. I used Kool-Aid and mixed two colors in the pot to make a multi-colored skein. I love the colors the Tropical Punch and Grape make. First I mixed 1 cup of water with 1 packet of Tropical Punch Kool-Aid. I also mixed 1 cup of water with 1 packet of Grape.
After my vinegar-water mixture was hot enough, I first poured on the Tropical Punch. I only poured it on the left half of the pot. It made a rusty-red color. I waited about a minute for the color to exhaust. I did not poke at my wool or shake the pot because I wanted the color to stay where I put it. Once the water was clear again, I poured on the Grape mixture. I just poured it in a single spot toward the right side of the pot. It was pretty scary as the water turned nearly black! Anyway I let it cook for 10 minutes on low and the colors were absorbed nicely. Once I pulled my skein out of the water, I was amazed at how well it had turned out.
I am definitely going to try and do it again...
